By the fourth round, the Mexican duo had put the favorites Daoyi Long and Zongyuan Wang from China under pressure, surpassing them with an excellent execution of a highly difficult dive.

The last two dives by the national athletes certified their stellar night and elevated them into the history of Mexican Olympism, as they won a medal for the first time in this discipline, finishing just two points and seven hundredths shy of the Olympic gold.

China and Great Britain Complete the Podium

The last dive executed by the Asian duo was the one that decided the tough competition between the Mexicans and the Chinese, as it allowed them to clinch the Olympic gold.

The podium was completed by the British pair Anthony Harding and Jack Laugher, who scored 438 points, six points less than the Mexican pair Celaya and Olvera.
