As of last night, June 2, the participation of Mexicans abroad reached 184,372 votes, which is 71% of the total number of people who could participate in this process. This includes the 223,961 people who registered on the Nominal List of Voters Abroad and the 1,500 additional people who could vote without registration at each of the 23 consular locations where Voting Reception Modules were installed (34,500 spaces).

The National Electoral Institute announced this during its Extraordinary Session, noting that the 223,961 registered people under one of the three modalities reside in 144 countries, making it the election with the most registrations and the greatest diversity of countries of residence.

Regarding postal voting, 39,634 postal envelopes were received from April 30 to May 31 out of the 56,249 possible votes under this modality; of these, 33,545 came from the United States, 1,552 from Canada, 933 from Spain, 1,025 from Germany, and 2,579 from the rest of the world.

Regarding electronic voting via the internet, 122,500 votes were received from May 18 until June 2 at 6:30 p.m., which represents a participation of 80.59% of the 151,989 registrations under this modality.

In-person voting was a great surprise. From the early hours, Mexican consulates in California, Chicago, and Madrid presented long lines of people interested in exercising their right to vote, highlighting that this option was necessary to promote greater community participation abroad.

This modality saw a participation of 22,238 votes in the 23 Voting Reception Modules as of yesterday at 6:30 p.m. Notably, the possible votes under this modality were 50,223 (considering registered and unregistered persons). Hence, the participation rate was 44%.

With these results, the 2024 electoral process becomes the largest in terms of the participation of the Mexican community abroad. The sum of the three previous federal processes amounts to 198,845 votes, considering 40,876 votes in 2006, 59,115 votes in 2012, and 98,854 votes in 2018.
