The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel, revealed that a proposal will be made to the president-elec, -Claudia Sheinbaum- for the Senior Citizens Pension to be extended to Mexican men and women living abroad.

During a press conference at the National Palace, Secretary Ariadna Montiel stated that the program's operating rules currently specify that it can only be distributed "within national territory."

Pensión Bienestar Could Reach Seniors Abroad

She mentioned that president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum will decide whether to implement a strategy in the next government to allow the Senior Citizens Pension to be distributed abroad.

Currently, the Senior Citizens Pension program has 12,238,962 beneficiaries with an investment of 465,048 million pesos for 2024. Montiel informed that the bimonthly payment for September-October, along with the welfare programs, is being distributed from September 2 to 21.
