The trade relationship between Mexico and the United States in the agricultural and agro-industrial sector is at a crucial moment of growth and consolidation with exports exceeding 44,870 million dollars in 2023 and where our country reaffirmed itself as the main agri-food trading partner of the United States. The fourteenth edition of the US-Mexico CEO Dialogue reinforced the commitment between both countries, as it represented a platform for dialogue for businessmen and high-level authorities, in addition to being a great opportunity to identify key areas of investment. The US-Mexico CEO Dialogue is a strategic forum to strengthen commercial cooperation between both nations, and in this edition it had more than 240 executives and business owners who met to identify areas of opportunity and increase private investment in key sectors such as the agri-food sector. The presence of the Mexican Secretary of Agriculture, Julio Berdegué, at this event was not a coincidence, if one considers that agro-industrial trade between Mexico and the United States is one of the engines that drives the economies of both countries, generating jobs, food security and stability in their markets. The participation of key figures from the Mexican government and the private sector in these forums not only promotes a continuous and open dialogue, but also provides certainty to the actors in the sector about the future of trade. According to projections from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Mexico will continue to be the United States’ main agricultural trade partner this year, which reaffirms the importance of consolidating the bilateral relationship. In an increasingly complex global environment, trade ties between Mexico and the United States in the agro-industrial sector represent an invaluable opportunity to generate well-being in both nations. The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, in her message at the event, stressed the importance of guaranteeing certainty in trade relations between both countries, sending a clear message to businessmen: Mexico is committed to strengthening trade, investment and innovation in the field and agro-industry. Agricultural trade is not only crucial for the economic well-being of both countries, but also for food security throughout the region, as it ensures that both populations have access to quality products at competitive prices, in an environment of cooperation and stability. Furthermore, Mexico has an unparalleled opportunity to continue being a key player in this sector, not only in North America, but also in broader international markets. The Future of the Agroindustrial Sector: International Agroindustrial Forum (FIA) 2024 In line with the need to continue promoting the growth of the agroindustrial sector, the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA) will organize the 3rd edition of the International Agroindustrial Forum (FIA) 2024. This event, which will be held on October 30, 31 and November 1 in Mexico City, will be a key platform to analyze the challenges and opportunities facing the agri-food sector in Mexico. With the presence of entrepreneurs, academics, consultants, diplomatic representatives and students, the FIA 2024 will address fundamental issues such as the competitiveness of the Mexican agroindustry, sustainability and technological development. The future of agricultural trade between Mexico and the United States, as well as the strengthening of the national agroindustry, depends on collaboration, investment and innovation, which is why forums such as the US-Mexico CEO Dialogue and FIA 2024 are important steps towards the consolidation of a strong, resilient and sustainable agroindustrial sector.
