Claudia Sheinbaum Reveals that the Maya Train and the Interoceanic Train Could Reach
The two countries are in negotiations for one of AMLO's flagship projects to reach South America.

In a press conference, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the presumed president-elect of Mexico, indicated that some railway projects might extend to neighboring countries, considering their strategic and developmental importance.

"There is also a proposal for the Maya Train and the Interoceanic Train to reach the border with Guatemala and possibly even enter Guatemala, where Belize might also be considered," stated Dr. Sheinbaum.
In this context, she mentioned that Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the current president of Mexico, has already discussed the arrival of these trains with Bernardo Arévalo, the president of Guatemala. During her administration, she also emphasized her interest in developing Mexico's southern border.

Train Extensions in Mexico to Aid Migrants: Claudia Sheinbaum
Dr. Sheinbaum revealed that all her development projects are focused on addressing the causes of migration, with policies aimed at strengthening the development of southern southeastern Mexico.

"We discussed our interest in developing the border publicly during the debates. Developing the southern border is crucial for creating jobs for migrants as well as for Mexicans," stated Dr. Sheinbaum.
"This means developing the southern border, which, in addition to the 12 Welfare Poles proposed by the president (AMLO), is linked with the Interoceanic Train, one of our long-term strategic projects, which we will continue to develop. It also includes investment for development in this border area"; she added.
