The Government of the state of Oaxaca announced that applications are now open for young people under 20 to apply for the Youth Card.

This program is aimed at young people aged 18 to 20, providing them with a card loaded with an annual balance of 7,200 pesos, which can be used to access cultural, artistic, and recreational events and spaces such as gyms, bookstores, cinemas, and other services at participating establishments and companies.

The aim of this call is to "motivate young people to engage in new activities such as reading, visiting museums, art galleries, theaters, cinemas, concerts, sports events, workshops, and more," as stated in an official communiqué issued by the Government.

What are the requirements to obtain the Youth Card?

The application period will be open from June 10 to 30. Interested individuals with Mexican nationality can register on the websites: www.tarjetajoven.oaxaca.gob.mx or https://www.oaxaca.gob.mx/injeo/.

Additionally, they can apply in person at the Injeo offices in Teotitlán del Flores Magón, San Juan Bautista Cuicatlán, Asunción Nochixtlán, Heroica Ciudad de Tlaxiaco, Huajuapan de León, San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec, San Felipe Jalapa de Díaz, Salina Cruz, Heroica Ciudad de Juchitán de Zaragoza, Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz, Villa Sola de Vega, Putla Villa de Guerrero, and Ixtlán de Juárez.

To receive the Youth Card, applicants must present the following documents:

  • Registration form addressed to the head of INJEO.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Unique Population Registry Code (CURP).
  • Official photo identification. If the ID does not indicate residence in the state of Oaxaca, a document proving residence in the state, issued by the competent authority, must be presented.
  • Recent proof of address, no older than three months.
  • Socioeconomic questionnaire.
  • Medical certificate, if applicable, indicating the type of disability or chronic-degenerative disease.
  • Certificate of studies with average grades, if applicable.

The Youth Card provides young people with 7,200 pesos annually, which can be used to access cultural, artistic, and recreational events, such as gyms, bookstores, cinemas, and other services at participating establishments and companies. This money can be redeemed at participating establishments, which can be consulted at the following link: https://www.oaxaca.gob.mx/injeo/.

It should be noted that the Youth Card cannot be used to purchase alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, or weapons. It also cannot be used for online purchases, subscriptions to streaming platforms, or video games. In case of any suspicious or fraudulent activity, the program will automatically block the Youth Card holder.
