Six Mexicans injured in bus accident near Machu Picchu, Peru
The Mexican embassy in Peru has taken steps to assist the injured citizens

At least six Mexicans, including four with multiple fractures, were injured in a bus accident while on a tour to the ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru. The vehicle, carrying around 20 people, plunged down a 15-meter slope.

Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reported that two of the injured had minor injuries. At the same time, four were transferred to Cusco for medical treatment due to the severity of their injuries.
Initial reports indicated that four Mexicans were injured, but by the afternoon, the number had risen to six. The SRE confirmed that the Mexicans were part of a group of international tourists traveling through Aguas Calientes, Peru, and they are now receiving assistance.
Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena Ibarra expressed her regret over the accident involving the Mexican nationals heading to Machu Picchu, stating that consular staff from the Mexican embassy in Peru have activated protection and assistance protocols.

“A regrettable accident occurred in #MachuPicchu, Peru, involving Mexican citizens. Our @EmbaMexPeru in Lima and consular staff are already aware of this and have activated protection and assistance protocols,” she posted.

In a message shared on social media, the SRE detailed that four of the injured Mexicans suffered multiple fractures after their tour bus veered off the road.
“They will receive the necessary assistance, and we are in communication with Peruvian authorities, closely monitoring the situation to help transfer the injured to the nearest hospital for treatment,” the ministry stated.
The SRE also noted that the group of Mexican tourists was traveling on a tour organized by a travel agency, which is now assisting with the rescue efforts alongside local authorities.
