Mexicans have high expectations for Sheinbaum's government

QM, in partnership with Heraldo Media Group, presents a poll on public expectations for the new six-year term starting on October 1

With the strong backing of over 35 million 924 thousand votes from Mexicans and a qualified majority in the Union Congress enabling her to make constitutional changes, Mexico's first female president, Claudia Sheinbaum, begins her term with high public expectations.

According to a poll by QM Opinion Studies in partnership with Heraldo Media Group, Claudia Sheinbaum enjoys broad public support and inspires confidence for the upcoming six years.

64.1% expect "A Lot" from Sheinbaum's new Government

When asked, "Speaking of expectations in general, how much do you expect from the new government led by Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo?" 64.1% of respondents answered "a lot," 15.7% said "somewhat," 11.4% said "little," 4.4% said "nothing," and 4.4% said "don't know/didn't answer."

Combining those who expect "a lot" or "somewhat" brings the positive expectations for Sheinbaum's government to 79.8%.

The victory of the former Mayor of Mexico City is historic for her broad support and because she is the first woman in modern Mexican history to lead the country.

Morena party wins 7 out of 9 contested States.

In addition to securing a parliamentary majority, Sheinbaum's party and its allies claimed victory in seven of the nine states, effectively painting the country Morena's signature maroon.

Regarding the presidential election, Sheinbaum Pardo won by a margin of more than 32% over the second-place candidate.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will end his term at the final minute of September 30, handing over the Presidential Sash to Claudia Sheinbaum, the former Mayor of Mexico City, the following day.
