Several business organizations considered that the economic guidelines set by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo during her first speech as head of the federal government “brought peace of mind to entrepreneurs,” and thus expressed their support to begin a new phase of sustainable development.

Ensuring the autonomy of Banxico and guaranteeing security for both domestic and foreign investments was a smart move, said Gabriela Siller Pagaza, Director of Financial Economic Analysis at Grupo Financiero Base. However, she noted that the mention of the USMCA (TMEC) was weak, and the details on how the relocation of companies will be leveraged were missing.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Malagón Barragán, President of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United Mexican States (Concamin), told Heraldo Media Group that Sheinbaum, in addition to providing “peace of mind,” stated that she would resume public and private investments. “This is essential for boosting economic growth based on the value of GDP, and from there, an industrial policy can emerge.”

Francisco Cervantes, President of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), had mentioned in previous days to El Heraldo de México that the private sector agreed to sign a new anti-inflation pact, which would be the third one after the May 2022 agreement, known as the Pact Against Inflation and High Prices (Pacic), which was renewed on October 3 of the same year under the name of the Agreement for Opening Against Inflation and High Prices (APECIC), although no further details were provided.

In addition to the certainty conveyed to both domestic and foreign investors and entrepreneurs, Sheinbaum Pardo also committed to launching lithium production with proprietary technological development; constructing 3,000 kilometers of passenger train railways; promoting the airline Mexicana de Aviación with new planes arriving between 2025 and 2027; expanding the Maya Train to Puerto Progreso and equipping it with cargo service.

Additionally, she said, Petróleos Mexicanos’ production would be capped at 1.8 million barrels per day, and renewable energies would be promoted through photovoltaic, wind, and hydroelectric plants, among others.

In the context of industrial development, the President committed to strengthening the 12 industrial parks located in the southeast of the country and building 10 additional Development Hubs for Well-being across the country.
