Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum held a phone call with her U.S. counterpart, Joe Biden, marking their first conversation since she took office this October. The president mentioned discussing bilateral cooperation in a post on her X account.

She also expressed her gratitude for Biden’s congratulatory message after she assumed the presidency. The post was accompanied by a photo of Sheinbaum smiling and wearing a lilac-colored blazer.

“I received a call from U.S. President Joseph Biden, during which we discussed bilateral cooperation on economic, cultural, and commercial matters. I appreciate his congratulations on becoming Mexico’s first woman president,” Sheinbaum wrote.

For his part, President Biden reiterated his commitment to continued collaboration between the two nations.

“Today I spoke with President Sheinbaum to congratulate her on her historic inauguration as the first woman to serve as President of Mexico. I look forward to continuing this strong and collaborative partnership that will promote prosperity and security for both countries,” Biden posted.

On October 1, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo assumed the presidency of Mexico with the support of over 35 million votes. Meanwhile, Joe Biden’s term as U.S. president will end on January 20, 2025, making the relationship between the two leaders crucial in the coming months.
