
This Tuesday, at the direction of President Claudia Sheinbaum, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Mexico Omar García Harfuch and Secretary of National Defense General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo met with Governor Rubén Rocha Moya to address the current wave of violence in the state.

Following the meeting, authorities outlined agreements to reinforce security operations in Culiacán and surrounding municipalities. The federal government will deploy additional personnel from the Mexican Army and the National Guard while bolstering intelligence and investigative efforts to combat violence.
The plan’s key components include targeting root causes, enhancing intelligence and investigative work with multidisciplinary teams, and collaborating with investigators and analysts from the Attorney General’s Office.

What Will the National Guard Do in Culiacán?
The National Guard will focus on community engagement and citizen assistance during upcoming cultural, sports, and artistic events in the state capital. Following a regional assessment of crime patterns, a special forces unit will be deployed to reduce violent homicides statewide.
