The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reports on key actions on Thursday, March 13, 2025
Coordinated operations by the Security Cabinet resulted in arrests, raids, and the seizure of firearms and various types of drugs in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, and Veracruz

Baja California: The Mexican Army and National Guard (GN) arrested three individuals in a vehicle, seizing 42 kg of fentanyl and 7 kg of heroin. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs exceeds 300 million pesos.

- El Jala, Nayarit: Using intelligence operations, the Mexican Army discovered 105 kg of marijuana in an abandoned bundle. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 515,727 pesos.
- Sinaloa: Authorities located 13 sites used for methamphetamine production, seizing 11,410 liters and 50 kg of precursor chemicals. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 253 million pesos.
The Security Cabinet reports these significant events from March 13, 2025, as part of the National Security Strategy, which is based on four key pillars:
- Addressing root causes
- Consolidation of the National Guard
- Strengthening intelligence and investigation
- Coordination with state governments

Key Operations by State
BAJA CALIFORNIA
- Mexicali, San Felipe, and Ensenada: The Mexican Army, GN, and State Prosecutor’s Office raided two properties, arresting six individuals, including one U.S. citizen. Authorities seized firearms, various drug doses, and a vehicle.
- Tecate (El Centinela border crossing, Mexicali-Tijuana Highway): Three individuals were arrested with 42 kg of fentanyl and 7 kg of heroin in a vehicle. The estimated drug value exceeds 300 million pesos.
- Tijuana: Two suspects linked to a criminal group were arrested in raids; authorities seized two long guns, one handgun, magazines, ammunition, 31 kg of methamphetamine, 200 doses of methamphetamine, and a vehicle (valued at 620,000 pesos).
- One individual was arrested with 25 kg of methamphetamine (valued at 7.3 million pesos).
- A woman was arrested at the U.S. border checkpoint with 19 kg of methamphetamine (valued at 5.5 million pesos).
BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR

- La Paz (International Airport): Navy (Semar), Customs, and Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) seized 2.8 kg of marijuana in eight packages during a package inspection.
CHIAPAS

- Cintalapa: GN secured five stolen vehicles, two long guns, ballistic plates, magazines, ammunition, and tactical gear.
MEXICO CITY
- International Airport (AICM): Semar and Customs seized:
- 4.94 kg of Mimosa root bark containing a psychoactive substance (DMT).
- 1.5 kg of marijuana.
- A box containing a skull and an envelope with ayahuasca extract.
- Azcapotzalco: SSC officers arrested a suspected member of a criminal group, seizing a handgun, various drug doses, and cash.
- Coyoacán & Cuauhtémoc: Mexican Army, GN, and State Prosecutor’s Office (FGJ) raided two properties, arresting three people and seizing three kg of marijuana, various doses of cocaine, and cash.
- Venustiano Carranza: SSC officers arrested Omar “N,” the security chief of a criminal group, seizing various drug doses.
GUANAJUATO
- San Francisco del Rincón, Irapuato, Yuriria, Celaya, Valle de Santiago, and Salamanca: Mexican Army, GN, and State Prosecutor’s Office arrested eight people, seizing a handgun, drugs, a vehicle, and two motorcycles.

GUERRERO
- Coyuca de Benítez & Zihuatanejo: Mexican Army, GN, Navy, State Prosecutor’s Office, and Public Security Ministry (SSPC) seized five long guns, a handgun, magazines, ammunition, drugs, cell phones, a replica gun, four motorcycles, and a vehicle.
HIDALGO
- Tulancingo: Mexican Army, GN, and FGR raided a property, seizing three long guns and ammunition.
JALISCO
- Teocaltiche: The Mexican Army, GN, and State Police arrested a man with a long gun, magazines, and ammunition.
MICHOACÁN
- Tarímbaro: GN seized three long guns, magazines, ammunition, a grenade, drugs, and three vehicles.

MORELOS
- Cuernavaca: Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office raided a property, arresting a suspect and discovering human remains and traces of blood.
NUEVO LEÓN
- Monterrey: Mexican Army & State Prosecutor’s Office raided a property, arresting a woman and seizing a long gun, a handgun, magazines, and 530 rounds of ammunition.
QUINTANA ROO
- Felipe Carrillo Puerto (“Operation Saber”): The Navy & State Prosecutor’s Office raided a property, seizing six long guns, an improvised firearm, replica weapons, 202 rounds, 10 magazines, marijuana, tactical gear, and cell phones.
SINALOA
- Culiacán: The Mexican Army, GN, FGR, and SSPC arrested five individuals, seizing 90 kg of methamphetamine and four vehicles (valued at 41.2 million pesos).
SONORA
- Pitiquito: Mexican Army & GN arrested three men, seizing a Barrett rifle, 16 long guns, magazines, ammunition, explosives, three vehicles, and two ATVs.
- Hermosillo: State Police arrested a couple with 150,000 fentanyl pills bound for San Luis Río Colorado.
TABASCO
- Comalcalco & Cárdenas: Mexican Army & State Prosecutor’s Office raided two properties, arresting two suspects and seizing ammunition and various drug doses.
VERACRUZ
- Papantla: Navy & State Police arrested two suspects, seizing materials for making improvised explosive devices and a vehicle.

COUNTER-NARCOTICS OPERATIONS
In Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, Guerrero, and Oaxaca, the Army & Air Force destroyed 171 opium poppy fields (19 hectares) and 98 marijuana fields (6 hectares).
ANTI-FUEL THEFT STRATEGY
Army units located and dismantled three illegal fuel taps (two in Jalisco, one in Querétaro).
ILLEGAL SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS
From March 7 to 13, Navy units removed 383 unauthorized cameras installed in public spaces.
MARINE RESOURCES SEIZURES
• Ensenada, Baja California: 2,700 kg of sea snail.
• Puerto Cortés, Baja California Sur: 1,520 kg of chocolate clam.
