The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reports the results of “Operation Northern Border” as of March 13, 2025

In this Friday’s report, it was indicated that there were more than 1,400 arrests and a seizure of more than 22,500 kilos of drugs

Since the operation began on February 5, authorities have carried out:

  • 1,409 arrests
  • Seizure of 1,323 firearms
  • 165,954 rounds of ammunition of various calibers
  • 5,536 magazines
  • 22,566.24 kg of drugs, including 107.92 kg of fentanyl
  • 1,198 vehicles
  • 157 properties

All actions were carried out strictly with the rule of law and with full respect for human rights. Notable seizures and arrests include:

Baja California

  • Tecate: Three individuals were arrested, 42 kg of fentanyl, 7 kg of heroin, and one vehicle were seized.
  • Tijuana: Two men were arrested; two long guns, one handgun, four magazines, 100 rounds of ammunition, 200 doses of methamphetamine, a balance scale, a precision scale, one vehicle, and seven cell phones were seized.

Nuevo León

  • Monterrey: One person arrested; one long gun, one handgun, four magazines, 530 rounds of ammunition, and one property seized.

Sinaloa

  • Statewide: Authorities located and dismantled 13 sites used for methamphetamine production, seizing:
  • 11,410 liters and 50 kg of precursor chemicals
  • Three organic synthesis reactors
  • One condenser
  • Estimated economic impact on criminal organizations: 253 million pesos.
  • Culiacán: Five individuals arrested; 141.45 kg of methamphetamine and four vehicles seized.

Sonora

  • Pitiquito: Three individuals arrested; seizure of one Barrett rifle, 16 long guns, 60 magazines, ammunition, improvised explosive devices, three vehicles, and two ATVs.
  • Ciudad Obregón: Two long guns, two handguns, four magazines, and 86 rounds of ammunition seized.
