The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reports significant actions from Wednesday, March 19, 2025

Coordinated actions by the Security Cabinet resulted in arrests, raids, and the seizure of firearms and various types of drugs in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Durango, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Sonora, and Zacatecas

  • In Baja California Sur, personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy confiscated around 4.5 tons of drugs and 1,700 liters of fuel.
  • In Chiapas, personnel from the Mexican Army arrested an individual in a vehicle and confiscated 60 kilos of cocaine. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 14.4 million pesos.
  • In Chihuahua, members of the Mexican Army and the State Attorney General’s Office apprehended a man in a vehicle, confiscating 10 kilos of cocaine. The estimated worth of the seized drugs is 2.3 million pesos.
  • In Sinaloa, members of the Mexican Army seized 3,290 liters and 20 kilograms of chemical substances, along with two organic synthesis reactors. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs is 73 million pesos.

The Security Cabinet reports the relevant events from Wednesday, March 19, 2025, as part of the National Security Strategy, which consists of four action pillars: Addressing the Root Causes, Strengthening the National Guard, Enhancing Intelligence and Investigation, and Coordinating with State Authorities.

BAJA CALIFORNIA

  • In Ensenada, Tijuana, and Mexicali, personnel from the Mexican Army and the National Guard (GN) arrested seven individuals. They seized a handgun, magazines, cartridges, various amounts of drugs, and a vehicle.

BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR

  • About 56 nautical miles off the coast of Cabo San Lucas, personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), acting on intelligence information, arrested four individuals and seized a small boat equipped with three outboard motors, 150 bundles containing an estimated 4.5 tons of drugs, 18 jerry cans, a water tank with roughly 1,700 liters of fuel, and a satellite internet antenna.

CHIAPAS

  • In Chiapa de Corzo, personnel from the Mexican Army, National Guard, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), and the State Police conducted a raid on a property, seizing magazines, cartridges, firearm components, various amounts of drugs, tactical gear, and three radio communication devices.
  • In Suchiate, members of the Mexican Army arrested an individual in a vehicle and seized 60 kilos of cocaine. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs is 14.4 million pesos.

CHIHUAHUA

  • In Casas Grandes, members of the Mexican Army confiscated a long firearm, magazines, cartridges, tactical gear, and two vehicles, one of which was outfitted with makeshift armor.
  • In Chihuahua, personnel from the Mexican Army and the State Attorney General’s Office apprehended a man in a vehicle and confiscated 10 kilos of cocaine. The estimated value of the seized drugs is 2.3 million pesos.

MEXICO CITY

  • In the boroughs of Milpa Alta, Venustiano Carranza, and Iztapalapa, personnel from the GN and the Attorney General’s Office (FGJ) raided two properties, arresting three men and seizing various drug doses.
  • In the borough of Iztacalco, personnel from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) arrested a member of a criminal group who was hospitalized, along with three women and a man who arrived at the hospital. Authorities seized a handgun, cartridges, several doses of drugs, and a vehicle.

GUERRERO

  • In Acapulco, personnel from the GN, the State Attorney General’s Office, and the State Police seized a reported stolen vehicle featuring camouflage and the words “Mexican Army,” along with 12 metal plates and eight templates for camouflage patterns.

JALISCO

  • In Poncitlán and Zapotlán del Rey, personnel from the Mexican Army, the National Guard (GN), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) raided six properties, arresting four individuals and seizing:

MICHOACÁN

  • In Tangamandapio, personnel from the Mexican Army seized two handguns, one improvised explosive device, and a vehicle.

MORELOS

  • In Atlatlahucan, personnel from the Mexican Army, National Guard, Secretary of the Navy, the Secretariate of Security and Citizen Protection, the State Attorney General’s Office, and the State Police arrested six individuals, including two men associated with a criminal organization. They also seized two handguns, magazines, ammunition, and four vehicles, one of which had agency-installed armor.

SINALOA

  • In Culiacán, members of the Mexican Army seized two long guns, six magazines, 72 cartridges, and a vehicle.

SONORA

  • In Caborca, personnel from the Mexican Army and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) arrested five individuals and seized two rifles, nine long guns, 171 magazines, 2,018 cartridges, eight tactical vests, 16 ballistic plates, and one vehicle.
  • In San Luis Río Colorado, Mexican Army personnel arrested two individuals in a vehicle and seized 128 kilos of methamphetamine.

The estimated value of the confiscated drugs is 37.2 million pesos.

COMBATING DRUG PRODUCTION AND TRAFFICKING

  • In Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, Guerrero, and Oaxaca, personnel from the Mexican Army destroyed 181 poppy plantations spanning 19 hectares and 109 marijuana plantations spanning seven hectares.
  • In Culiacán and Cosalá, Sinaloa, personnel from the Mexican Army discovered seven sites used for methamphetamine production, seizing 3,290 liters and 20 kilograms of chemical substances, along with two organic synthesis reactors.

The estimated value of the seized drugs is 73 million pesos.

STRATEGY TO COMBAT FUEL THEFT

  • As part of the National Strategy to Combat Fuel Theft, personnel from the Mexican Army discovered eight illegal taps—two in Hidalgo, four in Jalisco, and two in Querétaro.

ILLEGAL FISHING AND PROHIBITED NETS

  • From March 13 to 19, Semar and CONAPESCA personnel seized 15,521 kilograms of marine products and eight illegal fishing nets measuring a total of 9,262 meters.

As of now in 2025, authorities have seized a total of 190,889 kilograms of marine products and 304 prohibited fishing nets that measure 71,716 meters.
