The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reports the results of “Operation Northern Border” from March 21 to 23, 2025

Since the start of “Operation Northern Border,” authorities reported that more than 23,000 kilos of drugs have been seized, including 129.24 kg of fentanyl

The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reports the results of “Operation Northern Border” from March 21 to 23, 2025

Since the operation began on February 5, authorities have detained 1,748 individuals and seized:

  • 1,562 firearms
  • 233,212 rounds of ammunition in various calibers
  • 7,884 magazines
  • 23,346.26 kg of drugs, which includes 129.24 kg of fentanyl
  • 1,431 vehicles
  • 195 properties

All actions are conducted in strict accordance with the rule of law and with complete respect for human rights. Noteworthy seizures and arrests include:

Baja California

  • In San Felipe, three individuals were detained, and authorities seized three long guns, three magazines, 90 cartridges, two tactical vests, four ballistic plates, and one vehicle.
  • In a separate operation, two individuals were apprehended with two firearms, five magazines, 114 rounds of ammunition, 20 doses of methamphetamine, and two vehicles.

Chihuahua

  • In Ciudad Juárez, authorities detained one person and seized a submachine gun, three firearms, three magazines, 62 cartridges, 1,700 doses of marijuana, 924 doses of methamphetamine, and one vehicle.
  • In a separate incident, two individuals were detained along with 21.5 kg of methamphetamine, 222 doses of marijuana, and one vehicle.

Nuevo León

  • In Pesquería, two individuals were detained; one handgun, one magazine, seven cartridges, doses of methamphetamine and marijuana, and one piece of property were seized.

Sinaloa

  • Authorities seized two firearms, 45 magazines, 1,002 cartridges, one improvised explosive device, one tactical vest, two ballistic plates, 15 stone parapets, eight encampments, and two vehicles.
  • Eight sites used for methamphetamine production were identified and dismantled, resulting in the seizure of 3,900 liters and 175 kg of precursor chemicals, along with four synthesis reactors and three condensers.

The estimated financial impact on criminal organizations is 90 million pesos.

Sonora

  • One individual was held in custody with two firearms, five magazines, 155 cartridges, 211 doses of methamphetamine, 172 doses of marijuana, seven doses of cocaine, and one vehicle.
  • In Pitiquito, two individuals were arrested with one long gun, one magazine, 30 cartridges, 1,730 doses of methamphetamine, and one piece of property.

Tamaulipas

  • In Nuevo Laredo, 34 magazines, 1,015 cartridges, and three vehicles were seized—two of which had factory-installed armor and one that was reported stolen.
  • In San Fernando, one person was detained with 214.606 kg of methamphetamine and a vehicle.
